ADVENTURE

WHITEWATER RAFTING

CLASS II-III — “FUN AND BUMPY, suitable for everyone”

We float down the Green River on 14’ and 16’ oarboats, rowed by our experienced guides. The river is a joy, with easy currents, plenty of calm water between fast and fun rapids. We always have a “ducky” with us for the adventurous—an inflatable kayak that handles the rapids with ease.

BIRDS EYE VIEW

On launch day, we fly up the canyon with Red Tail Aviation. Your accomplished pilot shows you the snakelike path the river takes, calling out sights and features along the way. The morning light carves and sculpts the landscape, giving you an all new perspective on the journey you are about to undertake. At the launch site, we are met by our guides and truck. Our gear takes the long dusty road down to the site, but we get to hike — about an hour descent into the canyon from the plateau landing strip. This is you first introduction to the flora and fauna, and the arid environment that will be your home for a week.

DESERT LIVING

For a week, you live like a lizard. This is perfect. Finds some shade, drink some water, and jump in for a swim. It’s hot, but being right on the river makes it all a joy. Every camping spot is beautiful, with views of the canyons, buttes, bluffs, monuments and the river. Sleep out under a starry sky, or inside one our desert tents.

SWIMMING

The cool waters of the Green River come right out of Flaming Gorge dam. Grab a seltzer from the drag bag and go for a float in the cool water while in camp. Take a dip while rafting to cool off from the midday heat. Find a gentle eddy that will send you in lazy circles. The water is fine!

HIKING

We do plenty of short side hikes during our float. On our layover days we always have an option for a longer hike to a viewpoint or some hidden gem up a side canyon.

NIGHTLY SESSIONS

A digital projector and screen come down the river with us. Every night there’s either a review of your work, inspirational images and topics to discuss, or nighttime photography sessions for astro-photography, light painting and more.

“I learned a lot from Andy—about framing, how the eye moves through the photo, how different lenses change what we see and how we shoot, and a whole lot more. I also became more familiar with my camera since I used it so much.”
